Shapes

Our Maths over the last 2 weeks has been based around the book 'A Rumble in the Jungle'.  We went on a shape hunt around school on Wednesday. Yesterday and today we were making 2D and 3D animals. (Giraffe's mostly!)

Here are some of the animals that we made.  Can you identify the 2D and 3D shapes that we used?

A Healthy Meal?

Today we were looking at what might make a healthy meal.  Last year we looked at the food pyramid so we already knew the different types of food groups.
We did a similar activity to the one our quadblogging friends in America did last month.  We had a picture of some food and had to join to make what we thought was a healthy, balanced meal.

Here are some of the groups we formed.  We thought about how balanced they were and if something was missing.  Some of our groups changed a bit.

Pizza and cheese

Pizza and salad

Is there something missing?

Spaghetti and peas

Do we need fish? Is it too much food?

Have we got too much of something?

Deciding if it's balanced.

Deciding if something is missing

A cheese sandwich

Is there enough here?

A cheese sandwich and fruit.

We are now going to keep a food, drink and exercise diary for a week to see how balanced and healthy our diet is.

8. How many different kinds of animals do you have in your town/city? By Connie
9. Do your pets have to take medicine?  by John
10.  Do you have wild tigers? by Krish
11. Do you have piranah fish?  By Ethan
12.  Do you have dangerous animals in your country?  By Jeremy L
13.  Have you seen a panda?  By Julia
14. Are there great white sharks in the seas by you?  By Elliott

If you are able to answer any of the questions, we would be very grateful.

Mrs. Overmann - where abouts in America is your school?  We know that the school in the UK is in Hartlepool.

We look forward to hearing from you soon
Thank you!

Body games to play

Here are couple of skeleton games to play to help you learn about the bones inside our bodies:

Enjoy!

The Twits

We are reading The Twits by Roald Dahl at the moment and are doing lots of different activities based on it.
Some of us are making papier mache heads of Mr and Mrs. Twit, but they are not ready yet.  Others have been using Pivot Stick to create an animation based on part of the story.

This video clip is showing the work that John and Jeremy did based on Mr. Twit climbing the ladder to get the birds for his bird pie.  They adapted the end of it though in to some thing else!

Have a look and see what you think.  This is the first time they have used it this year.

Calligrams homework

Below is the poem we read in class this week: Cats Can

Use it to think about how you are going to write your own calligram poem for an animal of your choice.

I am looking forward to seeing how you turn some of your verbs and adjectives in to calligrams.

Myself and other animals

We have just started the topic of 'Myself and other animals'.  We wanted to find out what we already know about the topic, so we used the mind map tool again to show this.

What we know about 'Myself and other animals' on PhotoPeach

We are now going to think about what questions we want to find out about throughout the topic.
