What is Moon Festival and what did we do to celebrate it?
What is Moon Festival?
This is what we did:
I went to Kaoshiong with my family. I went playing with friends and we had fireworks on sticks. by Toby
We went to the park at Yang Ming Shan. I saw 2 other families. by Emma
I went to see the Hot Springs. It was really fun. We came home and had a BBQ and some mooncakes. They were yummy! by Alice
I went to ATT and went swimming with my family. by Bryan
I went to my grandmothers house and we had a BBQ. It was very nice. by Ethan.
I went to my Dad's sisters house for a BBQ and I went to buy some water babies! I went down my apartment to eat food. by John.
Moon Festival is all about being with family and celebrating good times together. We had lots to celebrate.
We have some more questions:
ReplyDelete1. What is a mooncake?
2. Where/what is ATT?
3. Can you tell us more about Hot Springs?
4. What are water babies?
5. What grade are you in?
6. What kinds of things do you BBQ? We BBQ chicken, pork, hamburgers, and bread.
1. A mooncake is a round shape like a moon. It's got some flavours inside like pineapple, red bean, taro, lime and other unknown flavours!
ReplyDeleteThey are a sweet dessert pastry cake.
by Ethan, Orion, Emma, Poppy
2. ATT is a new shopping mall. It is a very big mall near Taipei 101.
by Bryan
3. Hot springs are very hot pools of water. You find them in the mountains in Taiwan because they are volcanic. They make lots of smelly sulphur. The pools are bubbly and very relaxing. They are steaming. You can cook your eggs in them because it's so hot. Hot springs are good for skin problems.
by Alice, Toby, Jeremy A and Rion.
4. Water babies are chemical crystals that grow when you put them in water. They absorb the water and grow. They can be squished but they will then break! They look like candy, but they're not - DON'T EAT THEM!
Some are clear and see-through others are different colours. We are not allowed to have them in school!
By Katelyne, Julia, John and Jeremy L
5. We are in Year 3 (ages 7 & 8). We learn about bodies. We are going to learn about Egypt. We also do non-chronological reports.
We do English, guided reading, topic and Maths and Chinese. We like golden time!
by Jihyun, Grace, Wen Ting Leonna and Connie.
6. We BBQ squid, shrimps, steak, corn and meat. We like to BBQ sausage and burgers, meatballs. We also BBQ tofu. (we have stinky tofu here which is very smelly!)
by Benjamin, Elliott, Krish and Takeru
We think the Moon Festival sounds fantastic. We think your BBQ's sound very different to the food we have on ours! We would like to have Moon Festival in our country!
ReplyDeleteDo you go to school at the same times as us? We start at 8.45 and finish at 3.15
Y3, Hartlepool (England)
