New topic: The Sound of Music

Welcome back after the Chinese New Year holiday - I hope you all had a good time!


We are ready to start our new topic on The Sound of Music! In this topic, we will become sound experts as well as musical instrument makers! We will be listening to music from around the world and from different periods of time.

Lion Dance photos

Chinese New Year

Tomorrow is our last day before our Chinese New Year holiday. We will be celebrating by either wearing something red or traditional Chinese clothing. In the afternoon, we will be watching a lion dance performed by a  visiting group. Hopefully, we will get some good photos of their performance to show you all.

This new year will be the year of the Dragon. 

Connie, Jihyun and Grace made a poster for our door wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

Our Class Assembly!

Here, as promised, is our class assembly. It has taken a while to download and process (and I didn't get chance to edit the very beginning noise out) but here it is. I hope you enjoy watching it and are able to share it with others who were not able to be present on the day. I think you did a fantastic job - well done!

Symmetry

We were looking at symmetry in shapes today in Maths and I came across this which I thought you might like to 'play' with. Just type in your first name then press go, then do the same with your surname.

Today was our class assembly. It was a nervous time for many (teacher included!) Everyone did a great job learning lines and practising reading and the assembly looked and sounded fantastic! The video is still downloading and hopefully will be ready to include on our blog tomorrow.

The Disco by Poppy

Poppy created and wrote a description of a disco setting. Here is her work:

Disco

As I walked out side the fantastic disco I felt like I was inside the disco. I begged my beautiful mum if I could go in. She said yes. I got a colourful ticket. I got fantastic clothes. I didn't expect to get clothes.  I saw a shiny blue curtain hanging down. At the back there was a pink wall. There was also a glamorous disco ball hanging down. There were some fantastic stars reflecting from the disco ball.  I zoomed to my mum and danced gracefully. 

Ocean by Connie

Connie made her diorama of a beautiful blue ocean.  Here is her work:

Ocean

As I swim in the peaceful ocean I see magnificent creatures. I see a gigantic orange octopus, an angry puffer fish, and a group of colorful fish. I was so graceful!  I smell salty water. The seaweed is as bright as the sun.  I was so happy,   the ocean is as wonderful as life. The rocks are hard as a wooden table. 

The Campsite by John

John created a campsite scene for his diorama. Here is his work and description.

Around the warm campfire, the shining stars up in the beautiful dark sky were perfectly clear. People were playing happily but just then the two terrible bad guys killed the two people that were playing soccer happily. When the bad guy decided to come in to the tent a shooting star got down and killed the two bad guy. When the people heard the shooting star they ran out and have a wish but it was two slow but just he saw his child on the floor he cried sadly he tae his child to the hospital to see if they can live but then the people in the hospital said they don’t know but they say to take your child to the church then they said your child is ok so they shouted happily!
