Ancient Egyptian Farming Picture

This is the farming picture that I sent home for homework the other day. I think it is a much clearer picture for you to look.  What do you think the jobs are that they are doing?

Questions to think about:
What might it have been like to have done one of these jobs?
Which job would want to have done and why?
How do you think these jobs have changed?

  8. The picture shows lots of jobs. These are some of them:
cutting grain; being an important person who told everyone else what to do and checked that they were doing it right;picking grapes and turning them into wine; sewing grain; picking fruits; recording the harvest; thrashing the grain which means they are separating the grains; carrying the grains to the store.

We think that many of these jobs were hard and boring, but listen to our audioboo conversations to hear more.

How the jobs have changed today:
I think they use sythes instead of sickles today. By John

Before with the grape picking, they had to pick the grapes by hand and step on them with their bare feet. Now they have a machine to crush the grapes and make wine. By Alice

They still use knives/sickles to cut but they use a machine to bring it back. by Benjamin

For picking fruit they do not use bare hands now. They use gloves and then put them in a truck and the truck brings it back. by Katelyne

For cutting grain, they now use electricity to cut grains. by Patrick

For cutting grain, now they use a big truck called a combine harvester and a tractor to cut and collect the grass. by Thomas

For getting the grain, before they had to carry it using their hands but now, they bring it back using a tractor. by Bryan

For cutting the grain, don't cut people! by Takeru.
